बिहार के छपरा जिले में रहने वाला 28 वर्षीय नितिन भगत मोटरसाइकिल स्पेयर पार्ट्स का कारोबार करता था। वह अक्सर अलग-अलग कस्बों में जाकर दुकानदारों से भुगतान वसूलता था। परिवार वालों को उसकी आदत थी कि वह कभी-कभी दो-तीन दिन तक काम के सिलसिले में बाहर रहता था।
एक दिन नितिन घर से कलेक्शन के लिए निकला, लेकिन वापस नहीं लौटा। उसका मोबाइल बंद आने लगा। परिवार ने शुरुआत में इसे सामान्य समझा, मगर कुछ दिनों बाद उत्तर प्रदेश के बलिया जिले में एक सुनसान दुकान के अंदर एक अज्ञात युवक की लाश मिलने से मामला अचानक गंभीर हो गया।
जांच के दौरान पुलिस को पता चला कि मृतक नितिन ही था। उसके पास से बड़ी रकम, बाइक और कुछ सामान भी गायब था। सबसे बड़ी पहेली यह थी कि नितिन बलिया और रेवलगंज जैसे इलाकों में आखिर क्यों गया था।
साइबर जांच में पुलिस को एक सोशल मीडिया प्रोफाइल मिली, जहां नितिन की बातचीत ‘प्रीति’ नाम की लड़की से हो रही थी। दोनों के बीच दोस्ती धीरे-धीरे प्रेम में बदल चुकी थी और मुलाकात की योजना भी बन चुकी थी।

अब सवाल यह था कि क्या नितिन केवल ठगी का शिकार हुआ था या उसके पास मौजूद पैसों के कारण उसे मौत के घाट उतार दिया गया? पुलिस को हर सुराग जोड़कर इस जाल के पीछे छिपे असली चेहरों तक पहुंचना था।
As investigators struggled to identify a murder victim found in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, their search eventually led them to Nitin Bhagat, a spare-parts supplier from Chapra, Bihar. Nitin had disappeared while collecting payments from clients and had not returned home for several days.
Initially, his family assumed he was traveling for business, as he often spent days away from home. However, the discovery of his body changed everything. His motorcycle, cash collections, and several personal belongings were missing.
Police soon uncovered an unusual clue hidden inside Nitin’s digital life. He had been chatting with a woman named Preeti on social media. Their conversations revealed an online romance that had progressed rapidly, and the two were planning to meet in person.
Cyber investigators traced the account and discovered that “Preeti” was not a real woman. The profile had been created using stolen photographs and false information. Further examination suggested that the account had previously been used under different names to target multiple victims.
As the investigation expanded across Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, detectives began uncovering a carefully planned honey-trap operation designed to exploit lonely men for money. But this case had escalated far beyond fraud.
What started as an online relationship ended in robbery, deception, and murder. The challenge before the police was to identify who operated the fake account, who lured Nitin into the trap, and why the criminals decided to eliminate him forever.
