ये कहानी मुंबई के चेंबूर इलाके में हुई एक वारदात पर आधारित है। मरने वाली महिला का नाम चंद्रभाग खरात था, जो 70 साल की वृद्धा थी। चंद्रभाग चेंबूर में अपने बेटे और बहू के साथ रहती थी। उनका बेटा ऑटो रिक्शा चलाता था और बहू घरों में मेड का काम करती थी। चंद्रभाग की पोती एक कॉलेज छात्रा थी।

घटना के समय चंद्रभाग घर पर अकेली थी और बाकी सभी लोग अपने-अपने काम पर गए हुए थे। 22 दिसंबर के उस दिन मुश्ताक खान नाम का एक इलेक्ट्रिशियन उस घर में चोरी करने घुसा था। इससे पहले भी वह इसी घर से करीब 1000 रुपये का सामान चुरा चुका था।

असल में मुश्ताक पहले भी इस घर में मरम्मत के काम से कई बार आ चुका था और इसी वजह से उसको यह अंदाज़ा था कि घर में कहाँ क्या रखा रहता है। उस दिन जब वह एक बार फिर से घर में चोरी से घुसा तो कुछ सामान गिरने की वजह से चंद्रभाग को आहट मिल गई। उन्होंने घर का दरवाज़ा अंदर से बंद कर लिया और वहाँ से निकलने की कोशिश में मुश्ताक ने तकिए से दबाकर उनका गला घोंट कर हत्या कर दी।

This story is based on an incident that took place in the Chembur area of Mumbai. The name of the deceased woman was Chandrabhag Kharat, who was 70 years old. Chandrabhag lived in Chembur with her son and daughter-in-law. Her son was an auto-rickshaw driver and her daughter-in-law worked as a maid in several homes. Chandrabhag’s granddaughter was a college student.

At the time of the incident, Chandrabhag was alone at home while the rest of the family had gone to their respective workplaces. On 22 December, an electrician named Mushtaq Khan entered the house to commit burglary. Even before this, items worth around 1000 rupees had reportedly been stolen from the same house.

In fact, Mushtaq had visited the house many times earlier for repair work, which gave him a good idea of where things were kept inside the home. That day, when he entered the house again, Chandrabhag heard a noise after something fell down. She locked the door from inside and, while Mushtaq was trying to escape, he suffocated her to death using a pillow.
