10 साल का सुमित घर से दूर एक बोर्डिंग स्कूल में पाँचवीं क्लास में पढ़ता था। वह हमेशा परेशान रहता था और अक्सर अपनी माँ को फोन करके उसे वापस घर ले जाने की बात करता था। एक दिन वह अपनी माँ को फोन करके कहता है कि उसे घर जाना है और उसी शाम हॉस्टल की छत से गिरकर उसकी मौत हो जाती है। पूरा स्कूल सदमे में आ जाता है। मामला पुलिस को सौंपा जाता है और पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट में पता चलता है कि सुमित की मौत से पहले उसके साथ मारपीट हुई थी।
सुमित के माता-पिता को बुलाया जाता है और वे बताते हैं कि सुमित ने कई बार शिकायत की थी कि हॉस्टल का वार्डन अक्सर उसे डाँटता और मारता था। सुमित के पिता का कहना है कि उन्होंने इस बात की शिकायत स्कूल के प्रिंसिपल से भी की थी, लेकिन इस पर कोई कार्रवाई हुई या नहीं, यह स्पष्ट नहीं है।
10-year-old Sumit studied in Class V at a boarding school away from home. He was always disturbed and often called his mother, asking her to take him back home. One day, he again called his mother saying that he wanted to return home, and later that evening he fell from the hostel rooftop and died. The entire school was left shocked. The case was handed over to the police, and the postmortem report revealed that Sumit had been beaten before his death.
Sumit’s parents informed police that he had repeatedly complained about the hostel warden, who often scolded and physically abused him. Sumit’s father also stated that he had complained to the school principal earlier, but he was unsure whether any action had been taken.
