The village is shaken by a double murder. 65-year-old Manohar Chaudhary and his grandson Rahul Chaudhary were found shot dead on a roadside. Manohar and Rahul were from Bhubaneswar and had come to meet their relative, the Thakurs. One morning, Rakesh Thakur’s wife found Manohar and Rahul missing from their guest room, while Manohar’s wife Radha was still there but unaware of where the two had gone. Their slippers were also found in the room, and later their dead bodies were found in the village. The postmortem report revealed that they were shot at point-blank range.
Manohar Chaudhary and the Thakur family had a distant family relation, and according to Rakesh Thakur, they had simply come to visit from Bhubaneswar. When the police informed Rahul’s parents in Bhubaneswar about the murder, they arrived in Jharkhand and told the police that the real purpose of Manohar and Rahul’s visit was to settle Rahul’s marriage with Rakesh’s daughter, Neeta.
Police were shocked to learn this and wondered why Rakesh had not told them about the marriage proposal. They also questioned Neeta, and she told police that they had come to finalize the marriage and that she was happy with it. She also said that although Rahul was a distant relative, she met him for the first time at her home. Meanwhile, an informer told police about a guy named Surendra. Surendra was Neeta’s senior in college who had fallen in love with her but never expressed his feelings. Police arrested him and questioned him about the murder. They guessed that he might have hired someone to commit the murder so that no one else could marry Neeta.
Police also searched Neeta’s phone records and discovered that Rahul and Neeta had been in touch with each other for the past year. They questioned her again, and she now told police that besides them, Manohar Chaudhary was also aware of their relationship. It was Rahul who convinced him to help arrange the marriage, and the entire visit to Jharkhand had been pre-planned.
कहानी झारखंड के एक गाँव से शुरू होती है। मनोहर चौधरी, उनकी पत्नी राधा और उनका पोता राहुल चौधरी भुवनेश्वर से अपने दूर के रिश्तेदार राकेश चौहान के घर आए हुए हैं। एक सुबह जब राकेश की पत्नी गेस्ट रूम में जाकर देखती है तो दोनों दादा और पोते को गायब पाती है। वो लोग समझ नहीं पाते हैं कि ये लोग बिना चप्पल के घर से कैसे निकल गए। राधा चौधरी को भी इनके बारे में कुछ नहीं पता है। इसके बाद गाँव में ही इन दोनों की लाशें रोड के किनारे मिलती हैं। पूरा गाँव सकते में है कि बाहर से आए इन दोनों की हत्या यहाँ क्यों हुई। पुलिस तफ्तीश शुरू करती है तो राकेश और उसका पिता अभय सबका यही कहना है कि ये लोग इतनी दूर से बस ऐसे ही मिलने आए थे, मगर राहुल का पिता भुवनेश्वर से आने के बाद बताता है कि ये लोग राहुल और राकेश की बेटी नीता के रिश्ते को लेकर भुवनेश्वर से आए थे।
पुलिस को अब पहला शक राकेश और अभय पर होता है कि इन लोगों से इतनी बार पूछने के बाद भी इतनी बड़ी बात क्यों छिपाई। नीता से भी पूछताछ की जाती है और वो भी बताती है कि वो अभय से इन दिनों पहली बार मिली थी और वह शादी के लिए तैयार थी। पुलिस इन सब लोगों के कॉल रिकॉर्ड तलाशना शुरू करती है तो एक चौंकाने वाली बात सामने आती है। नीता के कॉल रिकॉर्ड से पता चलता है कि नीता और राहुल पिछले एक साल से एक दूसरे के संपर्क में थे। सख्ती से पूछताछ करने पर नीता यह कबूल करती है कि वे दोनों दूर के रिश्तेदार थे और अक्सर किसी रिश्तेदार की शादी में मिलते रहने के चलते एक दूसरे को पसंद करने लगे थे। ये दोनों एक दूसरे को जानते हैं, यह बात इन दोनों के अलावा राहुल के बाबा मनोहर चौधरी को भी पता थी और राहुल ने खुद उन्हें बताया था। राहुल ने उनको मनाया था कि वह नीता को पसंद करता है और वे उसकी मदद करें ताकि उन दोनों की शादी हो सके।
पुलिस को एक और लीड मिलती है जब एक मुखबिर उन्हें बताता है कि कॉलेज के समय में नीता का एक सुरेंद्र नाम का आशिक था जो उसे बहुत पसंद करता था मगर कभी कुछ कह नहीं सका। पुलिस के शक के घेरे में सुरेंद्र आता है। वे उसे अरेस्ट करके सख्ती से पूछताछ करते हैं। पुलिस के अनुसार यह भी हो सकता है कि नीता की शादी राहुल से न हो पाए इसलिए सुरेंद्र ने राहुल की हत्या करवा दी और इस हत्या के चलते मनोहर चौधरी की हत्या भी कर दी गई होगी।
