निंटी नाम का एक होशियार लड़का अपनी तेज नजर और जासूसी आदतों के लिए पूरे मोहल्ले में मशहूर था। एक दिन वह दूधवाले की चोरी पकड़कर सबको हैरान कर देता है। लेकिन जल्द ही उसके सामने एक ऐसा रहस्य आने वाला था, जो पूरे परिवार की जिंदगी बदल देता है।
निंटी के मौसा संतोष समद्दार के घर में रहने वाली खूबसूरत लड़की हेना मलिक अचानक छत से गिरकर मर जाती है। शुरुआत में पुलिस इसे हादसा मानती है, लेकिन निंटी को कुछ गड़बड़ महसूस होती है। वह तुरंत मशहूर जासूस ब्योमकेश बख्शी को बुला लाता है।
जांच के दौरान पता चलता है कि हेना ढाका दंगों में अपने माता-पिता खो चुकी थी और संतोष समद्दार ने उसे अपने घर में शरण दी थी। लेकिन घर के अंदर कई रिश्ते उलझे हुए थे। संतोष की पत्नी हेना को पसंद नहीं करती थी, जबकि घर के जुड़वां लड़के उदय और जुगल दोनों उसके करीब आने की कोशिश करते थे।
मामला तब और रहस्यमयी हो जाता है जब हेना के कमरे में आग लगा दी जाती है। किसी ने वहां मौजूद सबूत मिटाने की कोशिश की थी। इसी बीच निंटी खुलासा करता है कि रात में अक्सर कोई आदमी माउथ ऑर्गन बजाकर हेना को इशारा करता था और वह उससे मिलने चुपके से बाहर जाती थी।
ब्योमकेश को हेना के कमरे से पुरानी तस्वीरें, गुलाब का फूल और कुछ अधूरी कविताएं मिलती हैं। जांच उन्हें एक रहस्यमयी नाम तक पहुंचाती है — उमर शिराजी। जल्द ही पता चलता है कि वह पाकिस्तान एयरलाइंस का कर्मचारी था, जिसकी मौत हाल ही में हुए विमान हादसे में हो चुकी है।
अब ब्योमकेश को समझ आने लगता है कि हेना की मौत केवल हादसा नहीं थी। इसके पीछे पुराने प्रेम संबंध, छिपे हुए दस्तावेज और ब्लैकमेल का खतरनाक खेल था। संतोष समद्दार का अतीत धीरे-धीरे सामने आने लगता है — ऐसा अतीत जिसे वह हर हाल में दुनिया से छिपाना चाहता था।
जांच के आखिरी चरण में ब्योमकेश को पता चलता है कि हेना के पास कुछ ऐसे कागजात थे जो कई जिंदगियां बर्बाद कर सकते थे। लेकिन इससे पहले कि सच पूरी तरह सामने आता, एक और चौंकाने वाली घटना सबको हिला देती है।

Nengti, a sharp and curious young boy, was famous in his neighborhood for solving small mysteries with surprising intelligence. One day, after exposing a milkman for mixing water into milk, he finds himself involved in a far more dangerous case — the mysterious death of a beautiful young woman named Hena Malik.
Hena had been living in the house of wealthy businessman Santosh Samaddar after losing her parents during the Dhaka riots. One evening, she suddenly falls from the rooftop and dies. The police initially believe it was an accident, but Nengti senses that something is terribly wrong and immediately calls detective Byomkesh Bakshi.
As the investigation begins, hidden tensions inside the house slowly come to light. Santosh’s wife disliked Hena’s presence, while the twin brothers Uday and Jugal both seemed emotionally attached to her. Strange behavior, secret emotions, and silent jealousy begin surrounding the case.
The mystery deepens further when someone secretly sets Hena’s room on fire after her death. It becomes clear that the killer was trying to destroy important evidence hidden inside the room.
Nengti then reveals another shocking detail — late at night, an unknown man would often play a mouth organ outside the house, signaling Hena to secretly meet him. Byomkesh discovers old photographs, poems, and hidden clues that eventually lead to a mysterious man named Umar Shirazi.
Soon, the detective learns that Umar Shirazi was an employee of Pakistan Airlines who had reportedly died in a recent plane crash before reaching Calcutta. This discovery changes the entire direction of the investigation.
Byomkesh slowly realizes that Hena’s death was connected to old love affairs, hidden legal documents, and a dangerous blackmail scheme. Santosh Samaddar’s forgotten past begins resurfacing — a past he desperately wanted to keep buried forever.
As the investigation reaches its climax, Byomkesh uncovers evidence suggesting that Hena possessed documents capable of destroying powerful lives. But before the truth can fully emerge, another shocking tragedy shakes everyone once again.
