Story of a 26-year-old Rakhi Mathur from Ghaziabad who lives with her in-laws. She also has a daughter named Ruchi. Rakhi is an educated girl and wants to do some job to support the family. On the other hand, her husband Jagat is unemployed and never allows Rakhi to work. Rakhi’s sister-in-law taunts Rakhi about Jagat’s unemployment because her own husband is the only one taking care of Jagat’s family.

Rakhi talks to one of her old friends about a job offer. That friend is arranging an interview for her, but Jagat overhears Rakhi talking to a man on the phone. He tortures Rakhi over this and accuses her of having an affair with another man. Rakhi shares her trauma with her father and brother. Rakhi’s father and brother decide to bring her back home.

A few months later, Rakhi’s in-laws decide to bring her back to their home because people in the society are gossiping about their separation. They go to Rakhi’s home to fetch her, but Rakhi’s father puts forward a condition: they will only send their daughter back if they promise that Jagat will not torture Rakhi again. They also obtain the signatures of Jagat and his father on a written agreement.

राखी माथुर एक 26 साल की होनहार युवती है जो अपने पति जगत, बच्ची रूचि और बाकी परिवार वालों के साथ ग़ाजियाबाद में रहती है। उसका पति जगत कोई काम-धाम नहीं करता है और उसके घर का सारा खर्चा उसके जेठ को ही वहन करना पड़ता है। राखी को अक्सर अपनी जेठानी के ताने सुनने पड़ते हैं। राखी खुद नौकरी करना चाहती है, मगर उसके घर वाले इसके खिलाफ हैं। जगत ये कहकर नौकरी करने नहीं दे रहा कि लोगों में बातें बनेंगी कि पति के होते हुए पत्नी को नौकरी करनी पड़ रही है।

राखी अपने एक पुराने दोस्त से अपने लिए नौकरी की बात करती है। उसे फोन पर बात करते हुए जगत सुन लेता है। जगत राखी को ताने मारता है और उसे पीटता भी है, यह कहते हुए कि राखी का उस आदमी के साथ चक्कर चल रहा है। राखी वो नौकरी नहीं कर पाती है। इसी तरह जगत कई बार राखी को परेशान करता है और हाथ उठाता है, तो राखी अपने घर पर फोन करके अपने पिता और भाई को बुलाती है और अपने मायके चली जाती है।

कुछ महीने बाद जगत के घर वाले राखी को वापस लाने की सोचते हैं, क्योंकि राखी के यहाँ न होने से मोहल्ले में बहुत बातें बन रही हैं। वे लोग राखी के घर जाते हैं। राखी के पिता उसे इस शर्त पर वापस भेजने को कहते हैं कि जगत या कोई भी राखी पर फिर से हाथ नहीं उठाएगा। और इस बात को वे एक कागज पर लिखकर सबके हस्ताक्षर भी करवा लेते हैं, और फिर राखी को अपने साथ ले जाते हैं।
