Kuljeet and Arjun are brothers who jointly run a dhaba and share its profits. However, they have been involved in a long-running dispute regarding their share of the business. According to Arjun, Kuljeet made the larger investment when the dhaba was established and, because of that, has continued to give him a smaller share of the profits for years. Their disagreements have frequently escalated into heated arguments and even physical altercations.

One evening, when Kuljeet fails to return home, his family begins searching for him. Later, his dead body is discovered inside his car. Police immediately suspect Arjun because of the long-standing conflict between the two brothers. Kuljeet’s wife, Sunita, also believes that Arjun is responsible for the murder.

कुलजीत और अर्जुन सगे भाई हैं जिन्होंने कई साल पहले मिलकर एक ढाबा शुरू किया था। ढाबे से होने वाले मुनाफे को दोनों आपस में बाँटते हैं। चूँकि ढाबा शुरू करते समय कुलजीत ने अर्जुन की तुलना में अधिक निवेश किया था, इसलिए वर्षों बाद भी अर्जुन को मुनाफे का अपेक्षाकृत छोटा हिस्सा मिलता है। इसी बात को लेकर दोनों भाइयों के बीच अक्सर विवाद और मारपीट तक की नौबत आ जाती है।

एक शाम कुलजीत घर वापस नहीं लौटता। परिवार वाले उसकी तलाश शुरू करते हैं और बाद में उसकी लाश उसकी कार में मिलती है। पुलिस सबसे पहले अर्जुन को हिरासत में लेकर पूछताछ करती है क्योंकि दोनों भाइयों के बीच पुराना विवाद चला आ रहा था। कुलजीत की पत्नी सुनीता भी अर्जुन को ही हत्या का जिम्मेदार मानती है।
