Crime Patrol Satark | Kalpanik Case
The Crime Patrol episode in question was based on a real-life incident that took place in 2016. In this case, the Court of Additional Sessions Judge, Patiala, acquitted all the accused on December 4, 2017.
Hon’ble Judge Baljinder Singh (Session Case No. 292/30.11.2016; CNR No. PBPT01-011602-2016) ruled that:
“It could not be proven that the accused conspired to murder the deceased Anup Kumar or disposed of his body in the Bhakhra Canal to destroy evidence. Therefore, all the accused are acquitted of charges under Sections 365, 302, 201, and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and Section 25 of the Arms Act.”

A father is trying his son Sonu’s mobile number, who works as a domestic help at couple Ranjit–Kavita‘s home. Usually, he reaches their home near 9 in the morning and returns around 8 in the evening after a full day’s work.
20-year-old Sonu, full name Sunil Panday, is a hardworking guy who earlier worked as a cook in a dhaba. Seeing his hard work, Ranjit offers him better pay and hires him.
Once Sonu’s father finds that he is not picking his phone, he calls Ranjit and Kavita. They tell him that Sonu left at noon with Ranjit’s lunch box but did not return. They file a missing complaint. They also tell police that Sonu borrowed ₹3000 from Kavita but did not explain why.
Sonu’s mobile is still switched on and ringing. When police start tracking his phone location, they find the last location was Delhi, and now it is switched off.
Police say that according to his phone location, Sonu must have been traveling from Amritsar to Delhi via the Rohtak–Sonipat route. His parents are clueless why he went to Delhi without informing anyone.
A month passes. One day, when his younger brother Monu tries the phone again, it is answered by a man in Amritsar named Manjeet. He says he found the phone in a bus going to Delhi.
Police now suspect that someone deliberately placed the phone on the bus to mislead the investigation.
