Manoj (real name: Manjesh Kumar Dohari, played by Prakash Jais) is a Central Government employee working for Central Railway in Mumbai. He lives with his wife, Pramila (real name: Purnima), and their young child in Nehru Nagar, Kurla. After the Sixth Pay Commission, he feels that he should also bring his brother, Rakesh (real name: Pradeep Kumar Dohari), from Mau district, Uttar Pradesh, so that he can help him find a job. Rakesh arrives with their mother and their brother, Ram.
A year later, Rakesh is still unemployed and frustrated.
Suddenly, one day, Manoj becomes paralysed following an accident. Months pass, but Manoj shows no signs of recovery, and his condition becomes critical. Everyone worries about the family’s future. One day, Manoj collapses, and a few days later, Rakesh finds Pramila’s dead body in her bedroom.
