होटल के दरबान के मुताबिक हत्या वाली रात तीन लोग सुकांत से मिलने आए थे — एक महिला और दो पुरुष। सभी कुछ ही मिनटों के अंदर कमरे से बाहर निकल गए। इससे शक और गहरा हो जाता है।
उसी मंजिल पर ठहरी थीं डॉ. शोभना राय, जो एक सख्त और आत्मविश्वासी महिला थीं। उन्होंने दावा किया कि वह सुकांत को नहीं जानतीं, लेकिन पूछताछ के दौरान उनकी कुछ बातें ब्योमकेश को अजीब लगने लगती हैं।

During the investigation, police discover that “Rajkumar Basu” was actually a man named Sukanta Som. A diary recovered from his suitcase contains names, addresses, and money amounts linked to people across different cities. It soon becomes clear that Sukanta had been secretly blackmailing several individuals for years.
According to the hotel gatekeeper, three visitors had gone to meet Sukanta on the night of the murder — one woman and two men. Each visitor stayed only a few minutes before leaving, making the case even more confusing.
Staying in the neighboring room was Dr. Shobhana Roy, a confident and sharp-minded gynecologist from Berhampore. She insists that she had never met Sukanta before, but certain details in her statements immediately attract Byomkesh Bakshi’s suspicion.
As the investigation progresses, Byomkesh uncovers Sukanta Som’s disturbing past. Years earlier, he had been a popular film actor whose career was destroyed after a violent scandal involving the death of his wife.
