Mandeep is the only son of his mother. He leaves home in the morning with a friend, Sukhdev, and goes missing. His mother files a missing complaint at the police station, and the police learn that Sukhdev has also been missing since the same day. On that same morning, Sukhdev had a fight with his mother and left home, saying he would not return.

Police find a burnt body in a field with strangulation marks on the neck. Empty alcohol bottles and glasses are found at the scene. A mobile phone found nearby contains a photo of Sukhdev. The police initially believe the body is Sukhdev’s. Mandeep becomes the prime suspect.
However, forensic reports later reveal that the body is not Sukhdev’s but Mandeep’s. The truth emerges: Sukhdev, influenced by Aruna Atwal, a woman who practiced black magic, killed Mandeep as a human sacrifice to bring peace to the soul of Aruna’s deceased son, Mahesh. Aruna believed that sacrificing a person whose name starts with ‘M’ would free Mahesh’s wandering soul.

Sukhdev befriended Mandeep solely for this purpose. He staged a fight with his mother, took Mandeep to the field, killed him, and then set the body on fire. He planted his own mobile phone and shoes at the scene to fake his own death. Sukhdev and Aruna were arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment.

मंदीप अपनी माँ का इकलौता बेटा है। एक सुबह वह अपने दोस्त सुखदेव के साथ घर से निकलता है और गायब हो जाता है। उसकी माँ पुलिस स्टेशन में गुमशुदगी की शिकायत दर्ज कराती है, और पुलिस को पता चलता है कि सुखदेव भी उसी दिन से लापता है। उसी सुबह, सुखदेव की अपनी माँ से लड़ाई हुई थी, और उसने घर छोड़ दिया था, यह कहते हुए कि वह वापस नहीं आएगा।

पुलिस को एक खेत में जली हुई लाश मिलती है। गर्दन पर गला घोंटने के निशान हैं। वहाँ शराब की खाली बोतलें और गिलास मिलते हैं। पास में मिले मोबाइल फोन में सुखदेव की फोटो है। शुरुआत में पुलिस को लगता है कि लाश सुखदेव की है। मंदीप मुख्य संदिग्ध बन जाता है।

लेकिन फोरेंसिक रिपोर्टों से पता चलता है कि लाश सुखदेव की नहीं, बल्कि मंदीप की है। सच्चाई सामने आती है: सुखदेव, अरुणा अटवाल नामक एक महिला के प्रभाव में था, जो काला जादू करती थी। अरुणा के बेटे महेश की एक सड़क दुर्घटना में मौत हो गई थी। अरुणा को लगा कि उसके बेटे की आत्मा भटक रही है। उसने सुखदेव को समझाया कि ‘म’ अक्षर से शुरू होने वाले व्यक्ति की बलि देने से ही महेश की आत्मा को शांति मिलेगी।

सुखदेव ने केवल इसी उद्देश्य से मंदीप से दोस्ती की। उसने जानबूझकर अपनी माँ से झगड़ा किया, मंदीप को खेत में ले गया, उसकी हत्या की, और फिर लाश को जला दिया। उसने अपना मोबाइल फोन और जूते वहाँ छोड़ दिए ताकि यह साबित हो सके कि वह खुद मर गया है। पुलिस ने सुखदेव और अरुणा को गिरफ्तार कर लिया। अदालत ने दोनों को आजीवन कारावास की सजा सुनाई।
