The Taxi Assault Case

Delhi resident Tanvi Sahu is returning home after attending a friend’s party. One of her friends suggests using the Speed Up Taxi service because it is easy to book and does not require cash payment. They book a cab for her, and Tanvi leaves for home shortly after midnight.

Exhausted after a long day at work and the party, Tanvi falls asleep during the ride. She suddenly wakes up feeling someone touching her. Horrified, she discovers that the taxi has stopped and the driver is attempting to assault her.

When Tanvi tries to call for help, the driver threatens to kill her if she screams. He forces her into submission and sexually assaults her inside the taxi before dropping her off near her home.

Shaken and traumatized, Tanvi narrates the entire incident to her family and friends. Encouraged by their support, she files a police complaint against the driver. The booking SMS identifies the driver as Nagesh Chauhan.

As investigators begin their inquiry, they focus on the taxi service and the driver’s background. To their surprise, police discover that the globally known taxi service was operating in the city without proper registration. They also learn that only a handful of employees were responsible for maintaining booking records across the city, raising serious concerns about passenger safety and regulatory oversight.

The investigation soon expands beyond the assault itself, exposing alarming gaps in the company’s verification process and safety mechanisms.
