Bhanwari Devi Case: Sting Operation, Blackmail, Disappearance and Murder
This Crime Patrol episode (498 & 500, aired on April 24 and 26, 2015) presents the case of Bhanwari Devi, a nurse from Rajasthan whose disappearance led to a major investigation involving allegations of blackmail and murder.
Background of the Case
Bhanwari Devi (Ambika Deha), a nurse from Jaliwara village in Bilara tehsil, Jodhpur district of Rajasthan, went missing on September 1, 2011.
Following her disappearance, several individuals were arrested on December 3, 2011. Three days later, information regarding the location of her body was obtained.
Video Controversy and Allegations
Before her disappearance, a video clip began circulating on news channels. It allegedly showed Bhanwari Devi with Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna (Jaswant Gatta) in a compromising situation.
Bhanwari’s husband accused Minister Maderna of being involved in her kidnapping. It was further alleged that Bhanwari possessed a CD and was using it to blackmail Maderna and Congress leader Malkhan Singh (Chittaranjan Sujani).

CBI Investigation Findings
According to the CBI’s second chargesheet filed on March 1, 2012, Bhanwari initially maintained connections with these leaders. Over time, she allegedly began demanding money using the CD.
As the situation escalated, it was alleged that she was killed by those involved.
When the case came under investigation, Mahipal Maderna was removed from his government position, and Congress leader Malkhan Singh was sent to jail.

भंवरी देवी (अम्बिका देहा) राजस्थान के जोधपुर जिले की बिलारा तहसील के जलीवाड़ा गाँव की एक नर्स थी, जो 1 सितम्बर 2011 को अचानक गायब हो गई थी।
उसकी गुमशुदगी के बाद 3 दिसम्बर 2011 को कुछ लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया और तीन दिन बाद उसकी लाश के स्थान की जानकारी मिली।
इस घटना से कुछ दिन पहले एक वीडियो क्लिप समाचार चैनलों पर प्रसारित हुई थी, जिसमें कथित रूप से भंवरी और मंत्री महिपाल मदेरणा को आपत्तिजनक स्थिति में दिखाया गया था।
भंवरी के पति ने आरोप लगाया कि इस अपहरण के पीछे मंत्री मदेरणा का हाथ है। यह भी कहा गया कि भंवरी एक सीडी के जरिए मदेरणा और कांग्रेस नेता मलखान सिंह को ब्लैकमेल कर रही थी।
सीबीआई की जांच के अनुसार, शुरुआत में भंवरी इन नेताओं के संपर्क में थी, लेकिन बाद में उसने पैसों के लिए ब्लैकमेल करना शुरू कर दिया। अंततः आरोप है कि इसी कारण उसकी हत्या कर दी गई।
जांच के दौरान महिपाल मदेरणा को उनके पद से हटा दिया गया और मलखान सिंह को जेल भेज दिया गया।
