Crime Patrol | Ravi left home when his father shouted at him (Episode 181 on 23rd Nov 2012)

Ten-year-old Ravi Nair was a bright fourth-grade student who loved cricket as much as he enjoyed studying. One day, an extra hour was added to his tuition class, upsetting his plans for an important cricket match. Ravi tried to leave early, explaining that he needed to take his grandmother to the temple. Later, when he returned home, his father questioned him about the delay and became angry after believing Ravi had lied. His father’s anger, however, came from deep concern for Ravi, whose health was considered delicate.

Not long afterward, Ravi disappeared. His family searched homes, friends’ houses, the temple, and the surrounding colony, while the police began circulating his photograph and alerting other stations. Days passed without a clear lead. Investigators considered several possibilities, including that Ravi might have been frightened and was deliberately avoiding anyone who could take him back home. Reports from outside Mumbai were checked, including an unexpected sighting connected to a factory in Surat.

After nearly twelve days, a breakthrough finally came when Ravi was recognized by a traffic constable in the Chunabhatti area. Police brought him to safety and used a child counselor to communicate with him rather than immediately pressuring him with questions. As the truth slowly began to emerge, another mystery remained: where had Ravi spent those missing days, and what had kept him away from home for so long?
