A Nation Awakens – Crime Patrol Episode Background
Once again, a shocking and shameful incident in Delhi stunned the entire country.
This chronology explains the sequence of events that unfolded on the night of 16 December 2012. News of the incident began emerging in the media on the morning of 17 December 2012.
The victim and her male friend were returning after watching the movie Life of Pi in Saket, South Delhi.
After spending some time in Saket, they took an auto-rickshaw to Munirka, where they waited for another mode of transport at a bus stop.
At around 9:30 p.m., they boarded a chartered bus with blackened windows and curtains. The rear of the bus displayed the name Yadava Travels. Before boarding, they had approached several auto-rickshaws and taxis, but none agreed to take them to their destination.
When they boarded the bus, they noticed five other passengers already inside.
After they took their seats, the other passengers began harassing them. When the young man protested, the group assaulted him.
The woman attempted to stop them and tried calling emergency number 100, but her phone was snatched away.
The attackers then targeted her while the driver continued driving around different areas of the city.
Both victims were brutally assaulted inside the moving bus.
After more than two hours, the victims were thrown out near Mahipalpur Flyover with severe injuries.

Many people reportedly passed by the scene, but no immediate assistance was provided.
Eventually, someone allowed the injured man to use a mobile phone to contact the police, and a PCR van arrived.
According to the male victim, multiple PCR vans reached the location, and there was confusion regarding jurisdiction before the victims were transported for treatment.
A shawl was provided to the injured woman while they waited for medical assistance.
The victims were eventually taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre, approximately 12 kilometres from Mahipalpur Flyover.
Later, the woman was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment.
Investigation and Medical Timeline
18 December: Police arrested four accused identified as Ramsingh, Pawan (Kallu), Vinay and Mukesh.
19 December: Doctors performed critical procedures and continued intensive medical treatment.
21 December: The government appointed a committee of physicians to oversee her medical care.
25 December: She remained in critical condition and was placed on life-support measures.
26 December: Doctors and authorities decided to transfer her for advanced treatment, eventually flying her to Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
28 December: Hospital officials reported that her condition had become extremely critical due to multiple organ damage.
29 December: She succumbed to her injuries at 2:15 a.m. IST.
