Girdhar Bisht, originally from Bindampur village, works as a school teacher in Dehradun. He usually spends his holidays with his family in the village. Girdhar lives in a joint family that includes his wife, his brother’s family, and other relatives. His brother has two daughters — the elder one, Preeti (real name Shwetha Chandrashekar Haarigency, 22, portrayed by Vinita Joshi Thakkar), and the younger daughter Nootan (real name Sushma Chandrashekar Haarigency, portrayed by Sabina Jat). Girdhar’s only son lives abroad.

Preeti is rebellious by nature and had dropped out of college due to poor academic performance. She is romantically involved with Ajit Jogi (real name Ravi Shankar Naukudakar, 22, portrayed by Saheem Khan), a small-time criminal known for burglary and theft cases. Her family strongly disapproves of the relationship. To separate her from Ajit, the family sends Preeti to stay with her uncle Girdhar in Dehradun, but she soon returns home.

During one of his journeys from school to his home, Girdhar Bisht is ambushed by two assailants riding a motorcycle. One of them shoots him at close range. Despite suffering severe injuries, Girdhar manages to call for medical help before losing consciousness. He is later rushed to the hospital by ambulance, and the police inform his family after recovering his identity card from the crime scene.

Another important incident connected to Preeti dates back to her college days. A fellow student named Johny Garg (played by Chirag Mehra) was deeply in love with her and openly expressed his wish to marry her. Almost everyone in the college was aware of Johny’s feelings for Preeti.

गिरधर बिष्ठ देहरादून के एक स्कूल में टीचर हैं और मूल रूप से बिंदमपुर गांव से संबंध रखते हैं। नौकरी के चलते वो छुट्टियों में अपने घर आया-जाया करते हैं। उनका परिवार एक संयुक्त परिवार है जिसमें उनकी पत्नी, उनके भाई का परिवार और अन्य सदस्य साथ रहते हैं। गिरधर के भाई की दो बेटियां हैं — बड़ी बेटी प्रीति और छोटी बेटी नूतन। गिरधर का इकलौता बेटा विदेश में रहता है।

प्रीति कुछ बिगड़ैल स्वभाव की है और पढ़ाई में कमजोर होने के कारण कॉलेज छोड़ चुकी है। उसका संबंध अजीत जोगी नाम के एक छोटे-मोटे अपराधी से है, जो चोरी और सेंधमारी जैसे मामलों में शामिल रहता है। घरवालों को ये रिश्ता बिल्कुल पसंद नहीं है। इसी वजह से परिवार उसे उसके ताऊ गिरधर बिष्ठ के पास देहरादून भेज देता है, मगर कुछ समय बाद वो वापस घर लौट आती है।

कॉलेज से छुट्टी होने के बाद एक दिन गिरधर अपने स्कूटर से देहरादून से घर लौट रहे होते हैं कि अचानक बाइक पर सवार दो लोग उन पर गोलियां चला देते हैं। गोलियां लगने के बाद गिरधर सड़क पर गिर पड़ते हैं। बेहोश होने से पहले वो किसी तरह एम्बुलेंस को फोन कर देते हैं। कुछ देर बाद एम्बुलेंस पहुंचती है और उन्हें अस्पताल ले जाया जाता है। मौके पर मिले उनके पहचान पत्र के आधार पर पुलिस उनके परिवार को सूचना देती है।

इन घटनाओं के अलावा करीब दो साल पहले जब प्रीति कॉलेज में पढ़ती थी, तब जॉनी गर्ग नाम का एक लड़का उस पर जान छिड़कता था। पूरे कॉलेज में सभी को पता था कि जॉनी प्रीति से प्यार करता है, मगर प्रीति उसे बिल्कुल भी भाव नहीं देती थी।
