A woman named Shikha Das discovers a young girl sleeping on a road divider early in the morning. Concerned for the child’s safety, she wakes her up and asks her name. The girl quietly responds, “Kaanchi,” but is unable to provide any further information about herself or her family.
Realizing that the child may be lost or in danger, Shikha takes her to the nearest police station. During questioning, the police notice a tattoo on Kaanchi’s arm. Believing it could be an important clue, they begin investigating its significance. To test a possible connection, officers show Kaanchi a photograph of an unidentified woman. The moment she sees the picture, she softly says “Aai” (Mother). Beyond that single word, she remains unable to explain anything.
The photograph belongs to a woman whose body was discovered earlier that day in a dumping ground. Investigators notice another striking detail—the nail polish on Kaanchi’s fingernails is identical to the color worn by the deceased woman. Further examination reveals a tattoo on the victim’s arm bearing the name “Devki Sambhaji More.”
As police dig deeper, the postmortem report reveals disturbing findings. Devki had suffered multiple injuries, and forensic evidence suggests that she was assaulted before her death. The case suddenly transforms from a routine identification exercise into a complex murder investigation.

एक जागरूक नागरिक शिखा दास को सुबह एक रोड डिवाइडर पर एक छोटी बच्ची अकेली सोती हुई मिलती है। वह उसे जगाकर उसका नाम पूछती हैं। बच्ची अपना नाम कांची बताती है, लेकिन इसके अलावा कुछ भी स्पष्ट नहीं बता पाती।
शिखा बच्ची को लेकर नजदीकी पुलिस स्टेशन पहुंचती हैं। वहां पुलिस को कांची की बांह पर बना एक टैटू दिखाई देता है। इसी बीच पुलिस एक अज्ञात महिला की तस्वीर कांची को दिखाती है। तस्वीर देखते ही कांची के मुंह से केवल एक शब्द निकलता है—”आई“। पुलिस को शक हो जाता है कि यह महिला कांची की मां हो सकती है।
दरअसल यह तस्वीर उसी महिला की है जिसकी लाश उसी दिन एक कूड़ा फेंकने वाली जगह से बरामद हुई थी। जांच के दौरान पुलिस को पता चलता है कि मृत महिला के नाखूनों पर लगी नेल पॉलिश और कांची के नाखूनों पर लगी नेल पॉलिश का रंग एक जैसा है। महिला की बांह पर “देवकी संभाजी मोरे” नाम भी गुदा हुआ मिलता है।
पोस्टमॉर्टम रिपोर्ट से पता चलता है कि देवकी के साथ हत्या से पहले शारीरिक शोषण हुआ था। उसके शरीर पर संघर्ष और चोटों के कई निशान मौजूद थे। यह मामला अब एक साधारण पहचान की प्रक्रिया न रहकर एक गंभीर हत्या की जांच बन जाता है।
कांची इस पूरे मामले की सबसे महत्वपूर्ण कड़ी बन जाती है। लेकिन वह डरी हुई है और बहुत कम बातें याद कर पा रही है। पुलिस उसके टूटे-फूटे बयानों को जोड़कर घटनाओं की पूरी तस्वीर समझने की कोशिश करती है।
