The Destination | मंज़िल
Middle-aged Kavita (played by Pyumori Mehta) lives with her husband Ravi and son Ajay. She is the sole breadwinner of the household and is disheartened by her husband’s alcoholism and her son’s unemployment. One day, Kavita leaves for work but never returns.
Initially, Ravi and Ajay do not realize that she has left home. Later, Ajay receives SMS messages from Kavita stating that she has become frustrated with her life and will never return.
Ravi and Ajay realize that Kavita was right. She was deeply troubled by their irresponsible behavior. Ravi files a missing person complaint, but the police initially believe that no case exists if a middle-aged woman leaves home voluntarily. However, after Ravi’s repeated requests, they begin an investigation and trace Kavita’s last known mobile location before her phone was switched off. They also question her boss, Jayesh Barbhay, who had spent some time with her after she left the office that day.
One week passes, during which Ravi gets a job as a security guard and Ajay starts working as a courier boy.
कविता अपने पति रवि और बेटे अजय के साथ रहती है। पति रवि एक शराबी व्यक्ति है जबकि अजय गैर-जिम्मेदार है। कविता ने कई बार कोशिश की कि अजय कोई नौकरी करे और इसके लिए उसने उसका इंटरव्यू भी तय कराया, मगर अजय कामचोरी की वजह से कभी इंटरव्यू देने नहीं गया। कविता पूरे घर की जिम्मेदारी संभालती है जबकि उसका पति और बेटा किसी काम में उसका हाथ नहीं बंटाते।
कविता उन्हें कई बार चेतावनी दे चुकी है कि एक दिन वह उनसे तंग आकर घर छोड़ देगी, मगर रवि और अजय उसकी बातों को गंभीरता से नहीं लेते।
एक सुबह कविता घर से निकलती है और शाम तक नहीं लौटती। रवि नशे में धुत रहता है और अजय भी उसके न आने को हल्के में लेता है। अगले दिन अजय के मोबाइल पर कविता का संदेश आता है कि वह उन लोगों से तंग आ चुकी है और घर छोड़कर चली गई है। जब अजय उसके नंबर पर कॉल करता है तो फोन बंद मिलता है। अगली सुबह फिर एक संदेश आता है कि वह कभी वापस नहीं आएगी।
अब अजय और रवि को एहसास होता है कि कविता काफी हद तक सही थी। उन्हें चिंता सताने लगती है कि कविता सचमुच घर छोड़कर गई है या उसके साथ कुछ गलत हुआ है। दोनों पुलिस के पास जाते हैं और पूरी बात बताते हैं। पुलिस का कहना है कि यदि कोई अधेड़ उम्र की महिला स्वयं घर छोड़कर गई है तो यह पुलिस केस नहीं बनता। मगर जब रवि बताता है कि वह कविता के ऑफिस का नाम तक नहीं जानता, तब पुलिस उसके बारे में जानकारी जुटाने का फैसला करती है।
पुलिस अपनी तफ्तीश की शुरुआत कविता के ऑफिस के जानने वालों से करती है और उसके बॉस को पूछताछ के लिए बुलाती है। बाद में कविता के फोन रिकॉर्ड और लोकेशन में कुछ संदिग्ध बातें मिलने पर उसके बॉस से दोबारा पूछताछ की जाती है।
एक हफ्ता बीत जाता है और इस बीच रवि सिक्योरिटी गार्ड की नौकरी तथा अजय एक कूरियर कंपनी में नौकरी कर लेता है।
