Naina has been missing from her home for the past two years, and her father believes she was kidnapped by her boyfriend Rohan and three others.

Naina and Rohan, aged 17 and 21 respectively, had fallen in love years earlier. Rohan was related to Naina’s landlord and often visited his maternal sister, who lived in the same locality as Naina’s family. However, Naina’s father strongly opposed their relationship and sent her to Allahabad to stay with her maternal uncle while completing her Class 12 examinations.

One day, Rohan allegedly came to Naina’s house when she was alone and abducted her at gunpoint along with two of his friends. Despite her father’s efforts, the police were unable to trace them in either city.

Two years later, Naina suddenly called her father and informed him that Rohan had left her at Varanasi railway station. When her uncle reached there, he discovered that she was pregnant.

According to Naina’s police statement, Rohan repeatedly assaulted her during those two years and she was carrying his child. She also claimed that she was kept captive inside a dark room with very little light and had completely lost track of time.

ये केस उत्तर प्रदेश के अलीगढ़ और हरियाणा के फरीदाबाद का है, जिसको सुलझाने में पुलिस को तीन साल लग गए। इस बीच दस अधिकारियों का तबादला भी हो चुका था मगर आखिरकार एस.एस.पी. राजेश पांडेय ने पूरे केस की गहनता से जांच की और तब जाकर असली कहानी सामने आई, जो मूल कहानी से बिल्कुल अलग थी। इसके बाद आरोपियों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया।

प्रीती के पिता देवेंद्र शर्मा असल में अलीगढ़ के गांधीपार्क के रहने वाले थे, जो 2013 में रोज़ी-रोटी कमाने के लिए हरियाणा के फरीदाबाद आ गए थे और बाद में अपने परिवार को भी वहीं ले आए। वे एक फैक्ट्री में काम करते थे। फरीदाबाद की जवाहर नगर कॉलोनी में यह परिवार किराए के मकान में रहता था और उनके मकानमालिक को लोग गंजू नाम से जानते थे।

प्रीती का प्रेमी जय कुमार, गंजू की पत्नी गुड़िया का ममेरा भाई था। जय का इस घर में अक्सर आना-जाना रहता था और इसी दौरान उसकी प्रीती से जान-पहचान हुई थी।

प्रीती इसी परिवार के साथ रहती थी, मगर परीक्षा देने के लिए वह अलीगढ़ में अपने मामा प्रमोद के घर जाती थी। वह वहाँ डी.ए.वी. कॉलेज से इंटरमीडिएट की परीक्षा दे रही थी। जय घर के पास ही किराए पर रहता था और अपने वकील मकानमालिक के ऑफिस में मुंशी का काम करता था। यह नौकरी उसे अपने पिता के निधन के बाद मिली थी।
