The Vihaan Gupta kidnapping case from Delhi took place in January 2018, when 5-year-old Vihaan was abducted from his school bus. The kidnappers had attempted to kidnap him several times during the previous week. Vihaan was held hostage in a flat in Sahibabad’s Shalimar City, Ghaziabad, by the kidnappers for 12 days. They demanded a ransom of Rs. 60 lakh from his parents, sending them photos and videos of the boy as proof of his safety.

The mastermind behind the kidnapping was Nitin Sharma, a 28-year-old dhaba owner, who sought quick money for a lavish lifestyle. He was assisted by two unemployed youths, Ravi and Pankaj. The police conducted a successful rescue operation, named “C-River,” after tracking down the kidnappers’ hideout. In a gunfight that ensued when the police raided the location, Ravi was killed, while Nitin and Pankaj were arrested. Vihaan was found hiding under a bed, unharmed but terrified.

The police also suspected that someone close to Vihaan’s family might have been involved, as they knew about a recent business deal that Vihaan’s father had completed.

दिल्ली में हुआ विहान गुप्ता अपहरण मामला जनवरी 2018 का है, जब 5 साल के विहान को उसके स्कूल बस से अपहरण कर लिया गया था। अपहर्ताओं ने पिछले हफ्ते में कई बार उसे अपहरण करने की कोशिश की थी। विहान को 12 दिनों तक साहिबाबाद के शालीमार सिटी में एक फ्लैट में बंधक बनाया गया। अपहर्ताओं ने उसके माता-पिता से 60 लाख रुपये का फिरौती मांगी थी और उसकी सुरक्षा के प्रमाण के तौर पर वे विहान की तस्वीरें और वीडियो भेजते रहे थे।

इस अपहरण का मास्टरमाइंड 28 वर्षीय नितिन शर्मा था, जो एक ढाबा चलाता था और अपनी भव्य जीवनशैली के लिए जल्दी पैसे कमाने की योजना बना रहा था। उसे दो बेरोजगार युवाओं, रवि और पंकज, ने मदद की थी। पुलिस ने “C-River” नामक ऑपरेशन चलाया और अपहर्ताओं के ठिकाने का पता लगाया। जब पुलिस ने छापेमारी की, तो एक गोलीबारी हुई जिसमें रवि मारा गया, जबकि नितिन और पंकज घायल होकर गिरफ्तार हो गए। विहान को बिस्तर के नीचे छिपा हुआ पाया गया, वह डरा हुआ था लेकिन सही सलामत था।
