A Brutal Murder Mystery
A worried father is searching for his daughter, Mamta Khandekar, who failed to return home after leaving for work the previous day. He visits the shop where she worked and learns from the owner that Mamta had left around 6 PM along with two colleagues.
After searching for several hours, the family makes a horrifying discovery. Mamta’s body is found near a nullah, bearing multiple injuries.
Police are informed immediately. During the investigation, officers recover Mamta’s bicycle approximately 200 meters from the crime scene. The post-mortem examination reveals that she was sexually assaulted by multiple individuals before being murdered.
Initially, investigators suspect Mamta’s father because he did not continue searching for her throughout the night and instead returned home. The shop owner also comes under scrutiny since Mamta was last seen leaving from his workplace. However, her colleagues confirm that all three of them left the shop together around 6 PM, forcing investigators to explore other possibilities.
Despite extensive efforts, the police are unable to identify the perpetrators, and three months pass without any significant breakthrough in the case.
Inside Story
This episode is inspired by a real-life case involving a young working woman who disappeared while returning home from work. The investigation became particularly challenging due to the lack of eyewitnesses and forensic leads during the initial stages of the inquiry.
As police continued their efforts, investigators examined the victim’s daily routine, personal relationships, and movements on the day of her disappearance. The case eventually became an important example of how persistent investigation and forensic evidence can help uncover the truth in seemingly unsolvable crimes.
