Delhi Constable Monika Yadav Murder Case

Assistant Sub-Inspector Pooja Lal’s (played by Maneesha Saxena) disappearance becomes an increasingly puzzling case for the Bhopal Police. A resident of Jabalpur, Pooja had joined the force in 2024 and was determined to continue her studies and eventually become an IPS officer. Yet in August 2024, she suddenly stopped reporting for duty. A message claimed she was travelling to Jabalpur, followed by a resignation letter that appeared to carry her signature.
Investigators soon discovered that the resignation had actually been prepared and posted by someone else. Pooja’s phone remained active around Ashirwad Colony in Jabalpur for several days, but her family insisted she never came home. Her purse and bag were still there, while CCTV searches and questioning produced no clear explanation. Her neighbour Neena recalled seeing her behaving normally, and investigators later traced Ravi Kumar, a man from Pooja’s past.
Then a hotel connection introduced another mystery. A man calling himself Shailesh Tripathi had checked in with Pooja, but his identity documents were fake. Months later, messages supposedly from Pooja began reaching her brother Pratap (played by Puneet Channa) from a Mumbai number registered to Lucky Mishra. The messages described Pooja as happy and living with Shailesh, yet the phone was repeatedly switched off. As the messages continued and then stopped, investigators began questioning whether Pooja’s disappearance was something far more serious than it first appeared.

Inside Story
The Mystery Behind Her Disappearance
The disappearance of former Delhi Police constable Monika Yadav remained a mystery for nearly two years before investigators uncovered a much darker story.
Monika, 28, originally from Bulandshahr, joined the Delhi Police in 2014 and was posted with the PCR unit. In 2020, she resigned from the force to prepare for the UPSC examinations. She was also selected as a Sub-Inspector in the Uttar Pradesh Police and was living as a paying guest in Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar.
On September 8, 2021, Monika suddenly disappeared. Her family was later told that she had left with a man named “Arvind” Over the following months, calls allegedly came from different locations, creating the impression that Monika was alive and travelling with him.
According to the investigation, however, “Arvind” was allegedly not who the family believed him to be. Police said Surendra Singh Rana, a Delhi Police head constable who had previously worked with Monika, involved his brother-in-law Ravin in the deception. Ravin allegedly made calls while pretending to be Arvind.
Investigators also alleged that recorded audio of Monika’s voice, her identification documents, phone number and other misleading clues were used to make the family believe she was still alive.
The case eventually reached the Delhi Crime Branch after the family continued pressing for answers. Investigators traced one of the phone numbers used in the calls and arrested Rajpal, followed by Ravin and then Surendra Singh Rana.
Police subsequently recovered human remains from the Burari Pushta area based on the accused’s alleged information. DNA profiling later matched the remains with a sample from Monika’s mother, according to the investigation report.
The case transformed from a missing-person mystery into a murder investigation, with the alleged two-year deception becoming one of its most significant aspects. The accused face the judicial process, and the final determination of guilt rests with the court.
