Kesari Escapes After Forced Marriage With 55-Year-Old Akhilendra
Real Story of Minati Gagaral From Keonjhar District
55-year-old Jamidar Akhilendra of Baliputra, Keonjhar district, married a 13-year-old girl named Kesari (real name Minati Gagaral). Kesari’s mother and brother forced her to stay with Akhilendra, but she refused.

Kesari escaped into the wild jungle of Baliputra and spent nine days there before reporting everything to the police. Police later arrested Akhilendra and sent Kesari to a protection organization.
In 2005, Kesari received the National Bravery Award.
