Anurag Pradhan (real name Tarun Acharya, aged 29 and portrayed by Gyanendra Tripathi) is an honest and successful journalist working for a local television channel. One evening, while returning home, he is attacked by an unknown assailant. His throat is slit, and he dies on the spot. Doctors later confirm his death at the hospital.
Anurag is the middle of three brothers. His elder brother, Suresh Pradhan (played by Ranjan Sehgal), is an advocate. Both brothers are married and live together in a joint family. Although the family appears united, there is a long-standing dispute between Suresh and their cousin Chintan Pradhan (played by Sriraj Singh).
Chintan had earlier alleged that he was brutally attacked by men associated with Suresh while sleeping at his home. Following that incident, he warned the family that he would one day take revenge. Anurag’s family believes Chintan orchestrated the murder because of this rivalry. Suspicion grows further when Chintan disappears and switches off his phone immediately after Anurag’s death.
The police eventually locate and arrest Chintan. During questioning, he insists that his dispute was with Suresh, not Anurag, and claims he had no reason to kill him. He explains that he went into hiding because he feared being falsely implicated. According to Chintan, he intended to return once the real culprit was identified.
After conducting a thorough investigation, the police find no evidence linking Chintan to the murder and release him. Before leaving, Chintan suggests that investigators should focus on the relationship between Suresh and Anurag, hinting that family tensions may have played a role in the crime.

अनुराग प्रधान एक होनहार और सफल पत्रकार है, जिसका मुख्य कार्य स्टिंग ऑपरेशन करना है। ऐसे समय में जब कई स्टिंग ऑपरेशन या तो बनावटी होते हैं या फिर जनता तक पहुँचने नहीं दिए जाते, अनुराग पूरी ईमानदारी से अपना काम करता है। एक शाम काम से लौटते समय उस पर हमला होता है और उसकी मौके पर ही मृत्यु हो जाती है। हमलावर धारदार हथियार से उसका गला काट देता है।
अनुराग तीन भाइयों में मंझला था। उसके बड़े भाई सुरेश प्रधान और अनुराग दोनों शादीशुदा थे तथा संयुक्त परिवार में रहते थे। परिवार में किसी प्रकार का मनमुटाव नहीं था, लेकिन सुरेश प्रधान और उनके चचेरे भाई चिंतन प्रधान के बीच पुरानी दुश्मनी थी।
कुछ महीने पहले चिंतन पर उसके घर में सोते समय हमला हुआ था। उसका आरोप था कि इस हमले के पीछे सुरेश के लोग थे। इसके बाद उसने परिवार को धमकी दी थी कि वह इस हमले का बदला अवश्य लेगा। अनुराग के परिवार को पूरा विश्वास था कि उसी ने हत्या करवाई है। हत्या के दिन से चिंतन लापता था और उसका मोबाइल फोन भी बंद था।
पुलिस किसी तरह चिंतन को खोज निकालती है। पूछताछ में वह बताता है कि उसका विवाद केवल सुरेश से था, अनुराग से नहीं। वह यह भी कहता है कि पुलिस के शक से बचने के लिए वह छिप गया था और असली अपराधी पकड़े जाने के बाद सामने आने वाला था।
जांच के दौरान पुलिस को चिंतन के खिलाफ कोई ठोस सबूत नहीं मिलता, इसलिए उसे छोड़ दिया जाता है। जाते-जाते वह पुलिस को सलाह देता है कि उन्हें सुरेश और अनुराग के रिश्ते की गहराई से जांच करनी चाहिए, क्योंकि संभव है कि परिवार के भीतर ही कोई छिपी दुश्मनी हो।
