6 मार्च 2017 की शाम हरिद्वार की निर्मल छावनी अचानक गोलियों की तदतड़ाहट से गूँज उठी. कम्बल व्यापारी अमित दीक्षित उर्फ़ गोल्डी की हत्या का सीन चीख़ चीख़ कर बयान कर रहा था की ये हत्या बहुत ही सधे तरीक़े से की गई है. ज़ाहिर था की हत्यारे बहुत ही प्रफ़ेशनल थे और वो अपने मक़सद में कामयाब रहे. कालोनी की मेन रोड पर दुस्साहसिक तरीक़े से ये हत्यारे वारदात को अंजाम देकर भागने में कामयाब रहे.
अमित दीक्षित अक्सर शाम को अपने घर चाय पीने के लिए आते थे इससे ये तो साफ़ था की बदमाशों ने पहले तो उनकी रेकी की और फिर मौक़ा मिलते ही वारदात को अंजाम दे दिया. उनके घर से निकालने पर सम्भवतः इन लोगों ने अमित दीक्षित को पहले रोका था और फिर गोली मारी थी क्यूँकि जब तक पुलिस पहुँची तो उनकी स्कूटी स्टार्ट ही थी. कुछ लोगों का कहना था की शूटर्ज़ 3 थे और वो कालोनी के पीछे कुछ देर पहले टहल रहे थे. अमित दीक्षित पर 32 बोर की पिस्टल से 5 गोलियाँ चलाई गई थी. 2 गोली उनके सीने में और एक गोली सिर पर लगी थी. सिर पर गोली लगने के बाद जब अमित ने खंबा पकड़ कर उठने की कोशिश करी तो उनलोगों ने फिर से अंधाधुँध फ़ायरिंग करी.
इसी गोलीबारी के बीच उनके एक हाथ के अंगूठे को भी एक गोली ने चीर दिया था और अँगूठा करीब-क़रीब ग़ायब हो गया था. जिस किसी ने भी अमित दीक्षित की हत्या के बारे में सुना वो ज़िला अस्पताल पहूचा था जिससे कि अस्पताल में लोगों का हुजूम उमड़ पड़ा था.

On the evening of 6 March 2017, the Nirmal Cantonment, Haridwar suddenly erupted with a burst of bullets. The scene of the murder of blanket merchant Amit Dixit alias Goldie was screaming that this murder was done in a very planned manner. It was evident that the killers were very professional and they were successful in their mission. On the main road of the colony, these murderers managed to escape by committing the crime.
Amit Dixit often used to come to his house to drink tea in the evening. It was clear that the miscreants first observed all his movements for few days and then they got the chance. Probably these people had stopped Amit Dixit when he came out from his house and then shot him because by the time the police arrived, his scooty was on. Some people said that the shooters were 3 and they were walking behind the colony a while back. 5 bullets were fired on Amit Dixit with a 32 bore pistol. 2 bullets were in his chest and one bullet hit his head. When Amit tried to get up by holding a pillar after being shot on the head, they again fired indiscriminately.
In the midst of this shootout, a thumb of his one hand was also ripped off by a bullet and the thumb almost disappeared. Anyone who heard about the murder of Amit Dixit had reached the district hospital due to which the people gathered in the hospital.
