Crime Patrol | Case 6/2018: ‘Psycho killer’ Buddhadeb Behera held in the murders of 6 women (Episode 892, 893 on 3, 4 February 2018)

Obsessed | आसक्त

Maharashtra Police are investigating a suspected serial killer whose methods are both unusual and disturbing. In 2017, officers discover the body of an unidentified woman on the outskirts of Nashik. With no immediate leads, the case becomes a blind murder investigation.

At the crime scene, police recover identification documents belonging to a man. While he initially becomes a suspect, investigators are puzzled by one question: why would a murderer leave his own identification documents behind?

A journalist covering the case informs police about a remarkably similar murder that took place in Madgaon, Goa, in 2014. In that case, a woman was killed in the same manner, and investigators also found identification documents belonging to an unrelated person. When police tracked down that individual, he claimed the documents had been stolen from him while travelling by train.

As investigators compare the two cases, they begin to suspect that they may be dealing with a serial offender who has been operating across multiple states for years.

Meanwhile, the killer assumes a new identity and arrives at a construction site in Pune, introducing himself as Jagdish Mane. He claims to be from Mumbai and begins working as a labour contractor, attempting to blend into his surroundings.

Obsessed Crime Patrol inside story

To understand the criminal’s mindset, police seek the help of psychologist Dr. Rachna. After reviewing the evidence, she suggests that the offender is driven by a dangerous obsession and may be responsible for several similar crimes committed between 2014 and 2017.

Using behavioural profiling, Dr. Rachna provides investigators with valuable insights into the suspect’s habits and personality. Police activate their network of informers and begin searching for someone matching the profile.

The investigation eventually leads them to a man named Kamlesh, who had mysteriously disappeared shortly after his sister-in-law went missing. Kamlesh was married to Pallavi, whom he met while working at a construction site. As police gather more evidence, the pieces of the puzzle begin to fall into place.

When investigators compare Kamlesh’s photograph with witness accounts, an important witness identifies him, bringing the police one step closer to uncovering the truth behind the series of murders.
