फरवरी 2017 में रांची में हुए एक दिल दहला देने वाले डबल मर्डर ने पूरे शहर को झकझोर दिया। निशा पांडे और उनके पांच वर्षीय बेटे राहुल की उनके फ्लैट में बेरहमी से हत्या कर दी गई थी। दोनों के गले किसी धारदार हथियार से काटे गए थे। घर में जबरन घुसने के कोई निशान नहीं थे, जिससे साफ था कि हत्यारे उनके परिचित थे। कमरे में रखे दो पानी के गिलास भी इसी ओर इशारा कर रहे थे। सीसीटीवी फुटेज में दो संदिग्ध लोग बिल्डिंग में आते और जाते दिखाई दिए, लेकिन उनकी पहचान नहीं हो सकी।
निशा के पति विनय पांडे एक बैंक मैनेजर थे, जिनकी पोस्टिंग पटना में थी। राहुल की पढ़ाई और स्थिरता के कारण निशा और राहुल रांची में ही रहते थे। शुरुआती जांच में न तो चोरी का कोई सुराग मिला और न ही किसी दुश्मनी का। इसी दौरान पुलिस को एक बड़ा रहस्य पता चला—राहुल, विनय और निशा का जैविक बेटा नहीं था। कई वर्षों तक संतान सुख न मिलने के बाद दोनों ने भुवनेश्वर की एक गरीब महिला रुक्मणी से राहुल को गोद लिया था। यह बात परिवार के बहुत कम लोगों को पता थी।
मामले में बड़ा मोड़ तब आया जब संदिग्ध हत्यारों में से एक की पैसों के विवाद में हत्या हो गई। पूछताछ के दौरान खुलासा हुआ कि निशा और राहुल की हत्या की सुपारी खुद विनय पांडे ने दी थी। उसने दोनों हत्यारों को चार लाख रुपये देकर यह वारदात करवाई थी।
जांच में सामने आया कि विनय लंबे समय से अकेलेपन और मानसिक तनाव से जूझ रहा था। उसे लगने लगा था कि राहुल उसकी और निशा की जिंदगी के बीच आ गया है। धीरे-धीरे यह भावना नफरत में बदल गई और उसने अपनी ही पत्नी और बेटे की हत्या की साजिश रच डाली।
अंत में विनय ने वही सब खो दिया जिसके लिए वह कभी तरसता था। यह मामला दिखाता है कि अनियंत्रित अकेलापन, ईर्ष्या और गलत सोच इंसान को कितना भयावह अपराध करने पर मजबूर कर सकती है।
In February 2017, Ranchi police were confronted with a shocking double murder. Nisha Pandey and her five-year-old son Rahul were found dead inside their apartment. Their throats had been slit, and there were no signs of forced entry. Two glasses of water found at the scene suggested that the victims had willingly allowed the killers into their home. CCTV footage showed two unidentified men entering and later leaving the building, making them the primary suspects.
Nisha’s husband, Vinay Pandey, was a bank manager posted in Patna, while Nisha and Rahul lived in Ranchi for the child’s education. At first, investigators found no clear motive. Nothing had been stolen, there was no evidence of robbery, and neither Vinay nor Nisha appeared to have any enemies. The case became even more complicated when police discovered a family secret: Rahul was not the couple’s biological son. After years of struggling to have a child, Vinay and Nisha had secretly adopted him from a poor woman named Rukmani in Bhubaneswar.
Despite this revelation, the murders remained unsolved until an unexpected breakthrough occurred. One of the suspected killers was murdered in a dispute over money. During that investigation, police uncovered the truth. The two men seen in the CCTV footage had been hired by Vinay Pandey himself. He had paid them four lakh rupees to kill his wife and son.
The motive was deeply disturbing. Vinay had become consumed by loneliness after living away from his family. He felt that Rahul had become the center of Nisha’s life and believed the child had come between them. Over time, resentment replaced affection, leading him to plan the murders.
In the end, Vinay lost everything. The family he wanted back was gone forever, and he was left to face the consequences of a crime driven by obsession, jealousy, and emotional isolation.
