Human Trafficking Case – Bakrana Village, Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Story belongs to a human trafficking case from Bakrana village, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Bakrana is a small village consisting of nearly 450 families, and its total population is around 2,300. The strange thing about this village is that the female population is nearly 10% of the total population. The main impact of this unusual percentage is clearly seen in the marital status of the men from this place. Being unmarried, most men buy women to fulfill their desires. A human trafficking gang of just nine people was active in this village. Their job was to bring innocent girls (age 16+) from other places to the village and sell them at a good price.
Tabassum (played by Malini Sen) is the maternal aunt of Nazneen (played by Raquel Rebello), and she lives with Nazneen and her mother. Tabassum meets a woman named Shalini Thakur at the Kandivali bus stop. Shalini tells Tabassum that she has a good job offer for girls between the ages of 16 and 35. She tells Tabassum that the girl will work at a catering service company based in Ahmedabad and will receive 15,000 rupees. Besides the salary, she will get a place to stay and five days of leave per month. Tabassum feels that the job is good for her niece, so she discusses it with Nazneen. Nazneen feels very happy after receiving this job offer.
Nazneen’s two neighbors come to meet them when they learn that Nazneen is going to Ahmedabad. They tell them that a month ago, their daughters Hina and Rashmi also went to Gujarat for the same kind of job offer, and after they left, they lost all contact with them. Tabassum assures them that she is going with Nazneen to drop her off at the company and will tell them everything after returning.
A few days later, Shalini Thakur meets Tabassum and Nazneen again and gives them the train tickets. Shalini does not give her mobile number to either of them and assures them that they will not face any trouble while reaching the Ahmedabad office.
After reaching Ahmedabad, a woman and a man come to the railway station to pick them up. They bring them to a village far from the main city. Nazneen finds Hina and Rashmi there. Both girls look very nervous. They send both girls back to their rooms and lock the room from outside. Somehow, during the night, Hina manages to meet Nazneen and tells her that they have been trapped and that the place does not have anything like a catering service.
ये कहानी सनद तालुका, अहमदाबाद के एक छोटे से गांव बकरना के ह्यूमन ट्रैफिकिंग केस पर आधारित है। बकरना गांव में लगभग साढ़े चार सौ परिवार रहते हैं। गांव की आबादी करीब 2300 के आसपास है, जिसमें पुरुषों का अनुपात महिलाओं से ज़्यादा है। यहाँ महिलाओं की आबादी कुल आबादी की दस प्रतिशत ही है, जिसकी वजह से गांव में अविवाहित पुरुषों की संख्या बहुत ज़्यादा है और इसीलिए ह्यूमन ट्रैफिकिंग को बढ़ावा मिल गया है। इन ह्यूमन ट्रैफिकिंग गैंग का काम होता है गांव के पुरुषों के लिए जवान लड़कियों को बहला-फुसलाकर लाना और फिर उन्हें मुंहमांगे दाम पर पुरुषों को बेच देना।
नाज़नीन की खाला तबस्सुम को मुंबई के कांदीवली बस स्टॉप पर शालिनी ठाकुर नाम की एक महिला मिलती है, जो बताती है कि वह एक प्लेसमेंट एजेंसी से है और उसे 16 साल से 35 साल तक की लड़कियां एक कैटरिंग कंपनी में नौकरी के लिए चाहिए। लड़की की नौकरी गुजरात में लगेगी और उसे महीने का 15,000 रुपये मिलेंगे। इसके अलावा महीने में पांच छुट्टियां मिलेंगी और रहने-खाने की अलग व्यवस्था होगी। तबस्सुम को नाज़नीन के लिए ये नौकरी सही लगती है।
नाज़नीन को जब वो बताती है, तो नाज़नीन किसी तरह अपनी अम्मी को मना लेती है और गुजरात जाने का फैसला करती है। नाज़नीन की दो पड़ोसियों को जब पता चलता है कि नाज़नीन गुजरात जा रही है, तो वे लोग दौड़ी-दौड़ी नाज़नीन के घर मिलने आती हैं और बताती हैं कि उनकी बेटियां शालिनी और हिना भी एक महीने पहले ऐसे ही गुजरात गई थीं, तब से उनकी कोई खबर नहीं है। तबस्सुम उन लोगों को आश्वासन देती है कि वो खुद नाज़नीन को गुजरात छोड़ने जा रही है और वापस आकर सब बताएगी।
कुछ दिन बाद वही औरत फिर से तबस्सुम और नाज़नीन को मिलती है और उन्हें अहमदाबाद के ट्रेन टिकट देती है। तबस्सुम भी नाज़नीन के साथ उसे गुजरात तक छोड़ने जाने का फैसला करती है। तबस्सुम और नाज़नीन दोनों के शालिनी से मोबाइल नंबर मांगने पर वो मना कर देती है और ये आश्वासन देती है कि उन लोगों को गुजरात ऑफिस तक पहुंचने में कोई दिक्कत नहीं होगी।
गुजरात पहुंचने पर इन दोनों को एक औरत और एक आदमी स्टेशन पर लेने आते हैं और इन्हें शहर से काफी दूर एक घर में ले जाते हैं, जहाँ पर उनकी मुलाकात हिना और रश्मि से होती है। हिना और रश्मि दोनों ही बहुत घबराई हुई हैं और सिर्फ गले मिलने के बाद उन्हें वापस उनके कमरे में भेज दिया जाता है। रात के वक्त हिना किसी तरह अपने कमरे से निकलकर नाज़नीन के पास पहुंचती है और उसे बताती है कि यहाँ कोई कैटरिंग का बिजनेस नहीं है और अपनी एक महीने की आप-बीती सुनाती है।
