Jhanvi leaves home to buy a few things from the market before departing for her hotel management training in Lonavla. She assures her mother that she will return within fifteen minutes. However, moments later, screams echo through the street as a young man chases her with a knife and brutally stabs her in broad daylight.
Residents rush to help and an ambulance is called immediately, but Jhanvi’s condition remains critical. Witnesses tell police that the attacker repeatedly stabbed her before snatching her mobile phone and fleeing the scene. CCTV footage from nearby shops clearly captures the face of the attacker, identified as Javed Sheikh, a known car thief with a criminal background.
Police discover that Jhanvi had recently changed her mobile number just four days before the murder. Although it initially appears to be a robbery, investigators begin suspecting a deeper motive because the attacker only took her phone while leaving her purse and money untouched.
During the investigation, police uncover that Javed and Jhanvi had secretly been in a relationship for nearly two years. Javed had initially introduced himself to Jhanvi with a fake Hindu identity named Yogesh Dalvi while working as a cab driver. Over time, Jhanvi discovered his lies, criminal activities, and involvement in car theft cases. Realizing the danger surrounding him, she decided to end the relationship and distance herself completely.
Unable to accept the breakup, Javed became increasingly obsessed and violent. He repeatedly attempted to contact Jhanvi, but she ignored his calls and changed her SIM card to avoid him. Feeling betrayed and humiliated, Javed planned her murder along with his cousin Majid. On the day of the crime, they tracked Jhanvi’s movements and confronted her in the market. After she firmly rejected him again, Javed attacked her with a knife multiple times, killing her mercilessly.
Police later arrest Javed and Majid from Kolkata after tracing their movements through relatives and surveillance leads. During interrogation, Javed admits to the murder but continues blaming Jhanvi for leaving him. The case exposes the dangerous consequences of deceit, criminal influence, possessiveness, and toxic obsession in relationships.
The tragedy leaves Jhanvi’s family devastated as they fight for justice, while Javed’s own family struggles with shame and disbelief over his crimes. The case also serves as a warning about ignoring early signs of manipulation, dishonesty, and violent behaviour in relationships.
