कंचन एक विधवा है जिसके पति का देहांत पांच साल पहले हो गया था. वो अपनी बेटियों स्वाति और नीना के साथ वेस्ट बंगाल रहती है. उसके पिता उत्तर प्रदेश में परेशान हैं क्योँ की 2 दिन से उसकी उसके पिता से कोई बात नहीं हो पा रही है क्यों की कंचन का मोबाइल बंद है. वो फ़ोन पर कंचन के मिस्सिंग होने की कम्प्लेन पुलिस को करते हैं मगर पुलिस उनपर दबाव डालती है की उन्हें वहां पहुच कर ही शिकायत दर्ज करनी होगी.

कंचन के पिता अपने बेटे के साथ बंगाल पहुचते हैं. वो पुलिस को बताते हैं की कंचन को हामिद नाम का एक आदमी परेशान कर रहा था. कंचन से उससे ही buy-and-rent system के तहत मकान ख़रीदा था जिसमे उसने 15 लाख रुपये एडवांस दिए थे और अगले 2 साल तक उसे 2000 किराया हामिद को देते रहना था. ये प्रथा सिर्फ उसी एरिया में पाई जाती है. हामिद ने कंचन को ये भी बोला था की मकान जब उसे दुबारा बेचना हो तो वो पहले प्रार्थमिकता हामिद को ही देगी. अब हामिद उस मकान को वापस 40 लाख में खरीदना चाहता था मगर कंचन उसे बेच नहीं रही थी क्यों की उसे मकान की और ज्यादा कीमत मिल रही थी.

कंचन के पिता को शक है की हामिद को ही पता है की कंचन कहाँ गायब है. पुलिस हामिद से पूछताछ करती है. हामिद अपने साथ वहां के लोकल MLA को लेकर आता है. वो लोग पुलिस को ये समझा देते हैं की कंचन अपनी दोनों बेटियों के साथ एक ड्राईवर राजू के साथ भाग गई है. पुलिस यही बात बार बार कंचन के पिता और भाई से बोल कर मामले को रफादफा करने की फ़िराक में है मगर कंचन के पिता वहां के DCP से मिलते हैं जो इस मामले को क्राइम ब्रांच को सौप देते हैं.

Kanchan is a widow who lives with her daughters Swati and Neena in West Bengal, while her father lives in Uttar Pradesh. Kanchan’s husband passed away five years ago, so she alone is taking responsibility for her daughters.

Kanchan’s father is worried because he has not been able to contact her for the last two days. Kanchan’s mobile is switched off. He calls Kanchan’s local police and tries to file a complaint by phone, but the police say that he must come to Bengal to file the complaint.

He reaches Bengal and tells the police that a man named Hamid was harassing Kanchan. The home in which Kanchan was living with her daughters was bought under a unique buy-and-rent system in which she gave 15 lakh rupees to Hamid and had to pay 2000 rupees every month for the next two years as rent. Hamid also told her that after two years, if she wanted to sell the property, she would first give priority to Hamid for the buyback. Now Hamid was willing to buy the home for 40 lakh rupees, but Kanchan was trying to sell it to someone else for more than 40 lakh rupees.

Kanchan’s father tells the police that Hamid knows where his daughter’s family has gone missing. The police call Hamid for questioning, and Hamid arrives with the local MLA. They tell the police that Kanchan was having an affair with a driver named Raju and fled with him. The police now try to dismiss the case by repeating the same thing to Kanchan’s father, but Kanchan’s father meets the DCP, and the DCP orders the crime branch to investigate the case.
