The story begins in 1991. A woman gives birth to a baby girl, but instead of welcoming her into the world, the mother, father, and grandparents abandon the newborn in a garbage bin.
The next morning, a nun from God’s Children—a charitable association—finds the helpless infant and rescues her. They take her in, give her shelter, and bless her with a name: Khushi—a name that means happiness.
For seven years, Khushi grows under their care. But in 1998, doctors reveal that she is mentally challenged. Concerned about her future, the organization decides to move her to Aradhna Sanstha in Chandigarh, a center for children with special needs.
Years pass. But in 2009, tragedy strikes again. Doctors at the Sanstha discover that Khushi is two and a half months pregnant. Shock and outrage follow. The head of the organization immediately files a complaint with the Chandigarh police.
