The Long Wait | लंबा इंतज़ार
73 वर्षीय राजेश्वरी कदम हर दिन मंदिर की सीढ़ियाँ चढ़कर अपनी बेटी गायत्री और उसकी मासूम बच्ची के लिए न्याय की प्रार्थना करती हैं। सत्रह साल पुराना यह मामला वर्षों तक ठंडे बस्ते में पड़ा रहा, लेकिन अब एक अधिकारी के हाथ इसकी फाइल दोबारा पहुँचती है। जांच अधिकारी मोरे को पुराना घटनास्थल और वह भयावह रात याद आती है, जब 26 वर्षीय गायत्री और उसकी केवल तीस दिन की बच्ची की जान चली गई थी।
कहानी पीछे लौटती है। पुणे के एक होटल में काम करने वाली गायत्री की मुलाकात दिल्ली के सेल्समैन अरविंद वायकर से होती है। दोनों के बीच नज़दीकियाँ बढ़ती हैं और रिश्ता प्रेम में बदल जाता है। कुछ समय बाद गायत्री गर्भवती हो जाती है। वह अरविंद से शादी की उम्मीद करती है, लेकिन अरविंद जिम्मेदारी लेने से इनकार कर देता है और गर्भपात कराने के लिए दबाव डालता है।
गायत्री अपनी माँ राजेश्वरी के विरोध के बावजूद बच्चे को जन्म देने का फैसला करती है। पुणे में उसकी मदद के लिए सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता पूजा और बाद में विजय कांबले सामने आते हैं। अरविंद अचानक गायब हो जाता है, जिसके बाद पुलिस शिकायत और डीएनए परीक्षण की तैयारी शुरू होती है। बच्ची के जन्म के बाद विजय परिवार की लगातार मदद करता है।
लेकिन जब राजेश्वरी जन्म प्रमाणपत्र लेने पहुँचती है, रिकॉर्ड में गायत्री का नाम ही नहीं मिलता। फोन बंद हैं, दस्तावेज़ों में विसंगतियाँ हैं और कुछ ऐसा सामने आता है जो पूरे मामले को एक रहस्यमय मोड़ पर ले जाता है।

The case has remained unresolved for seventeen years, until an old file is suddenly placed before a determined officer. Inspector More remembers the crime scene in Pune, where 26-year-old Gayatri and her thirty-day-old baby lost their lives.
The story then returns to the past. Gayatri, who lives with her mother in Wai and works at a hotel in Panchgani, meets Delhi-based salesman Arvind Vaykar. Their first encounter develops into a relationship, and Arvind repeatedly returns to see her. When Gayatri discovers that she is pregnant, she expects Arvind to marry her, but he begins avoiding her and insists that she terminate the pregnancy.
Gayatri refuses to abandon her unborn child. With her mother’s reluctant support, she moves to Pune and seeks help through a volunteer named Pooja. A complaint is prepared, while Arvind disappears from Delhi and cannot be traced. The possibility of a DNA test becomes important in establishing the child’s biological father.
During this difficult period, Vijay Kamble enters their lives and begins helping Gayatri and Rajeshwari with medical care and everyday needs. After the baby is born, Vijay assists with official paperwork. But when Rajeshwari goes to collect the child’s birth certificate, the records contain a disturbing discrepancy: Gayatri’s name cannot be found. Soon, phone calls go unanswered, documents appear questionable, and the family faces a mystery that changes everything.
