Payal Bhati and her partner Ajay Thakur allegedly killed Hema Chaudhary by slitting her wrist and distorting her face to prevent identification. The accused killed Chaudhary after befriending her as she had similar physical attributes to Bhati. The duo allegedly killed her to stage Payal's death so that Payal could take revenge against four of her family members who she blames for her parents' death....

The story begins with a girl browsing through some books in a library and then picking up a book titled 'The Vicious Circle' to read.
On the other side, there's a boy named Vaibhav stocking up a lady worker in a large clothing showroom. He frequents the showroom several times a week, always buying shirts from the same lady, Prajakta.
After a while, Prajakta suddenly disappears. Her brother files a missing complaint, revealing she's a married woman with a child, married to an alcoholic who neglects her.
A friend of Prajakta from the showroom informs the police that there was a boy who often visited and only bought clothes from Prajakta. The police start an investigation and confirm Vaibhav's identity from the showroom's CCTV footage.

Prajakta's phone records provide Vaibhav's number, revealing his full name as Vaibhav Prasad, a married man and a father. However, the police are taken aback when they discover that Vaibhav is also missing, and a missing complaint for him is lodged in another police station.
पायल भाटी और उसके प्रेमी अजय ठाकुर ने कथित तौर पर हेमा चौधरी को नींद की गोलियाँ देकर सुला दिया और फिर उसकी कलाई काट कर उसकी जान लीली। जान लेने के बाद इनदोनों ने हेमा के चेहरे पर खौलता हुआ सरसों का तेल डाल दिया जिससे कि उसका चेहरा इतना ख़राब हो जाये कि कोई उसकी पहचान ना कर पाए। ये सब करने के पीछे साज़िश ये थी कि पायल अपने कुछ रिश्तेदारों से अपने माता-पिता की मृत्यु का बदला लेना चाहती थी। उसका प्लान था की सबको लगेगा की वो मार गई है मगर वो छिप-छिप कर सबको मौत के घाट उतारेगी...
कहानी शुरू होती है एक लड़की जो एक लाइब्रेरी में कुछ किताबों को देख रही है और फिर 'द विशियस सर्किल' नाम की एक किताब निकाल कर पढ़ने लगती है।
दूसरी तरफ़ एक लड़का है जिसका नाम वैभव है वो एक बड़े से कपड़ों के शोरूम में एक लेडी वर्कर प्राजकता को स्टॉक कर रहा है। वो एक हफ़्ते में कई बार उस शोरूम शर्ट ख़रीदने जाता रहता है और प्राजकता से ही शर्ट ख़रीदता है।
कुछ समय बाद प्राजकता अचानक ग़ायब हो जाती है। उसका भाई उसके मिसिंग होने की कंप्लेंट दर्ज कराता है। वो बताता है कि प्राजकता शादीशुदा और एक बच्चे की माँ है। उसका पति एक शराबी है और वो उसकी कोई परवाह नहीं करता है।
प्राजकता की शोरूम की एक दोस्त पुलिस को बताती है की एक लड़का था जो अक्सर शोरूम में आता था और उसको सिर्फ़ प्राजकता से ही कपड़े ख़रीदने होते थे। पुलिस तफ़तीश शुरू करती है और शोरूम के सीसीटीवी कैमरे से वैभव की फ़ोटोज़ निकाल ये कन्फर्म करती है की ये वही लड़का है या नहीं।
प्राजकता के फ़ोन रिकॉर्ड्स से उनको वैभव का नंबर भी मिलता है और पता चलता है कि वैभव का पूरा नाम वैभव प्रसाद है जो कि शादी-शुदा और एक बच्चे का पिता है मगर पुलिस को अगला झटका तब लगता है जब उनको ये पता चलता है कि वैभव भी मिसिंग है और उसकी मिसिंग कंप्लेंट एक दूसरे पुलिस स्टेशन में दर्ज की गई है।
