Crimes Aaj Kal No Way Out

Inside Story

This case is inspired by an incident that occurred in 2017 in Telangana’s Adilabad district. A tenth-grade student consumed poison and later died after allegedly facing sustained harassment through fake Instagram profiles created in her name.

Before her death, she left behind a note that reportedly stated, “I want justice. The police must take action soon.”

According to reports, multiple fake accounts using her identity were created and populated with objectionable content. As the profiles spread, she became the target of harassment from strangers and criticism from people around her. The emotional distress caused by the online abuse reportedly pushed her into severe depression.

The victim had previously approached the police for help, but she believed that sufficient action had not been taken. Investigators later launched efforts to identify and locate those responsible for creating the fake profiles.
